A fine and delicately detailed late 19th Century watercolour military scene, by the French artist Henri Lafarge de Gaillard. The scene depicts a rank of lancers and cavalry marching past, near a large chateau. Onlookers to the foreground contrast with figures trailing into the distance. The artist has a careful approach to composition and palette, and the overall work conveys an ordered mood. Well-presented in a distressed gilt wooden frame, as shown. Signed and dated. On wove.Condition
In very good condition for a picture of this age, with some even surface discolouration, and only very light foxing to the upper areas. The frame has a distressed look and feel.
