Harry Green - Original Original 1987 Gouache. Image laid on card. From Look & Learn magazine, dated on verso 27th June 1987, "S/S". Inscribed verso. In fine condition.

Harry Green (1920- ) contributed extensively to Look and Learn in the 1970s and 1980s, illustrating a variety of subjects ranging from historical buildings to football. However, it was as a transport illustrator that he really made his mark in the 1980 with the series "Britain's Railway Wonders". Green also contributed illustrations to Speed & Power in the 1970s.

Collection Information

From a collection of original artwork used in the children's publication Look & Learn dated from the 1960s to 1980s, including Finding Out, another British weekly educational magazine for children that was the main competitor to Look and Learn before the two publications amalgamated in 1967, and Treasure. Most are mixed media including watercolour, gouache, poster paint, ink and acrylic.
