Frederick Parr (1887-1970) - Early 20th Century Watercolour, Houses By The Harbour

A quaint Cornish harbour scene with thatched cottages and fishing boats. The colour palette adds a warm late afternoon feel. The painting has been signed in the lower right corner and is presented in a smart wash-line mount in a burnished, gilt effect frame. Signed. On laid.

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. The frame has some scratches and scuffs to the gilt.

35 x 53.5cm (13.8" x 21.1")
Framed Size: 61 x 78cm (24" x 30.7")

Artist Biography

Parr (1887-1970) was a prolific artist, who painted watercolours of picturesque corners of fishing villages in Cornwall and Devon. Presumably, because he was contracted to sell all his work under the name of Parr through a particular outlet, he occasionally used a pseudonym, F.Beni.
He exhibited at the Elands Gallery, Exeter in 1924.
