Frank S. Bowden - Original Early 20th Century Graphite Drawing. A sketchbook containing various landscapes and architectural studies. Some watercolour, some graphite. Around 20 small studies altogether. The subjects include: architectural features in Florence, Rome and Venice, Villa Acton, buildings in Castle Combe and coastal scenes. Signed and inscribed. Minor staining and creasing throughout. Wear to cover.

Collection Information

From a collection of sketchbooks and works by the artist, Frank S. Bowden. Bowden was an architectural consultant and artist active between 1926 and 1967. He lived near Trowbridge, Wilts. and was the Wiltshire County Architect. His sketchbooks are full of very fine graphite drawings of buildings and constructions that demonstrate a keen eye for architectural detail. Many of the subjects can be found in the West country, particularly in the Bristol and North Somerset areas. There are also some sketches from Italy. The sketchbooks are signed on the inside cover.
