DescriptionAn impressive watercolour study by listed British artist Frank B. Jowett (1879-1943). The impressionistic brushstrokes and subtle yet rich colour palette is typical of Jowett's unique and expert approach to the watercolour medium. The scene displays similarities to the Fens, a marshy region of England known for its picturesque landscape and abundance of wildlife. Jowett was known for his sensitive and atmospheric depictions of the British landscape which clearly display his strong connection with the natural environment. Well presented in a gilt mount and Rococo style gilt swept frame with ornate corner pieces. Signed. On watercolour paper.
There is light discolouration, foxing spots and surface residue behind the glazing, as shown. With losses to the frame and surface wear to the gilt, as shown.
