F.L. Lamly - Framed 1898 Watercolour, Young Lady in a Summer Landscape
DescriptionA late 19th century watercolour landscape depicting a young lady in a summer landscape. The ground is awash with bright yellow flowers and lush green grass, which the artist has expressively dotted onto the paper with layers of colour. Areas of wet paint have been scratched out with the back of a paintbrush to create the effect of long grass, giving the composition a depth and perspective. An old label attached to the back of the frame gives the date and a faint signature, which we have transcribed as 'F.L. Lamly'. Well presented in a washline mount with gilt frame. On wove.
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. The mount and frame are in excellent condition.
