An impressive etching by the artist Evelyne Byers Bessell (1901-1990), depicting the entrance doorway to The Reader's House in Ludlow, Shropshire, England. The artist has a good grasp of texture and light in the medium, portraying many fine carved details from the late-Medieval facade. Signed. On laid.

In very good condition. Mount burn to the edges. The paper has roughly cut edges.

Artist Biography

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Evelyne Byers Bessell (1901-1990) became a portrait and still life painter, as well as an art teacher from 1927 to 1939 at the Houston Museum School of Art.
