Early 19th Century Watercolour - Portrait of a Woman in a Lace Cap
DescriptionA very fine portrait of a middle aged woman, possibly the artist's mother. She wears a ruffled lace bonnet and simple dress, with a shawl draped across her shoulders. The artist has used subtle graphite detail to pick out the intricate lace of her bonnet and facial features. Unsigned. On watercolour paper.
Overall the condition is very good for a picture of this age, however there is some discolouration and minor foxing. Several closed tears to the edges of the page. Largest measures 3cm at the right side.
