Diana M. Wager - Framed 1985 Watercolour, Twilight at Menabilly, Cornwall
DescriptionA wonderful study of a sailing boat on Menabilly lake, Cornwall. Menabilly was home to the famous English writer Daphne du Maurier. The artist has used layers and washes of watercolour to build up the opaqueness of the paint and create tone and shadow. White gouache has been used to give texture and volume to the bright clouds that dominate the skyline. Well presented in a washline mount and gilt frame. Inscribed on the reverse with the artists' name and address. Also with a label for 'Congresbury Fine Arts'. Signed and dated. On wove.
Areas of very minor foxing and discolouration to the sky area. Overall the condition is very good.
