Charles Houssard (1884-1958) - Signed and Framed Oil, Woodland Path in Autumn
Description
A signed early 20th century impressionistic landscape by listed Belgian artist Charles Houssard. This work is clearly influenced by the proliferation of impressionism across central Europe during the late 19th Century. Houssard's small yet rapid brushstrokes and subtle impasto is typical of later artist's reconfiguration of the movement. However Houssard's colour palette is what really sticks out in this particular piece. A turquoise sky against the rich autumnal oranges present in the foliage compliment each other perfectly. The essence of Autumn has been visually captured in this artwork, making for a poignant reflection of nature. Presented in a painted wood frame. Signed. On board.Condition
In fine condition. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration. There are some light scuffs to the surface of the frame.
