20th Century Watercolour - Portrait of Sitting Bull
DescriptionA bright contemporary watercolour depicting Sitting Bull, a Hunkpapa Lakota leader who led his people during years of resistance to United States government policies. He was killed by Indian agency police on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation during an attempt to arrest him, at a time when authorities feared that he would join the Ghost Dance movement. Well-presented in a black card mount and black wooden frame. Unsigned. On watercolour paper.
In good condition overall. Some light surface debris trapped behind the glazing. Very light scuffing to corners.
