Here, the artist's proficiency is clear through the delicate brushstrokes, reflection depiction and well-balanced picture composition. There is an artist's label to the reverse with additional biographical details. Well-presented in a double washline card mount and in a distressed gilt effect frame. Signed. On watercolour paper.


The condition is typical for a picture of this age, including discolouration and very minor foxing. Otherwise in good condition. Small scuffs and marks to the frame.

Artist Biography

Liverpool born landscape painter who was educated at Dulwich College and studied art at Lambeth School of Art and the South Kensington Schools, where in 1876, he was awarded the Queen's Prize for Perspective. He showed at the RARBARIFASWalker Art Gallery, Liverpool and RE. In 1919 he relocated to Bristol where he became a member of the Bristol Savages. Although little is known of his career, his decorative Victorian genre type work is reproduced today as posters.
