Framed c.1948 Oil - Belgian Corn Stooks
A very fine Belgian work in oil by an unknown artist, depicting corn stooks at harvest-time in the countryside. The artist has an impressive command of the medium, depicting sunlight touching the natural landscape in a delicate manner, evoking a late summer's evening. The absence of figures suggests an intentional celebration of centuries-old farming practices and the simplicity of rural country life.
Well-presented in a gilt wooden frame with light blue painted wooden slip, as shown. There is a label to the reverse from 'Huis Vyncke, Borgerhout'.Unsigned. On panel.
In fine condition overall. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration. Some very light wear to frame.
