John Revell - 1960 Oil, Gadebridge Park Fair
DescriptionA wonderful study of Gadebridge park during the August bank holiday fair. The artist, John Revell, has captured the busy scene with expressive, loose brushstrokes. The fun of the fair and warm summer sun can be felt emanating from the composition, with use of bright colour and areas of impasto. Inscribed on the reverse with the location and date 'Monday Aug 6th 1960'. Signed. On board.
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some scuffing to the corners of the board. With minor surface dirt. Small flakes of paint loss to the very outer edges at the left hand side. Inspection under UV light reveals no sign of restoration.
