Charles James Parry (1824-1894) - Late 19th Century Oil, Figure by Small Bridge
DescriptionA fine and detailed late 19th Century work in oil by the listed English artist Charles James Parry (1824-1894). The scene depicts a landscape view with a small wooden bridge and a female figure. This naturalistic view has a remarkable sense of depth, and the artist's choice of a portrait composition allows for greater interest in the natural forms. Well-presented in an ornate gilt effect wooden frame and in a gilt effect wooden slip. Signed. On canvas on stretchers.
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and craquelure. There is small areas of paint loss to the lower margin. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration. The frame has some small losses, with wear and marks.
