O' Klein became an artist and cartoonist best known for his hand coloured etchings of characterful dogs pictured engaging in various amusing antics, known as the ‘Dirty Dogs of Paris’. He also painted under a pseudonym, 'Jean Herblet' gaining much commercial success as both an illustrator and painter. Upon the death of O' Klein his Grandson, reproduced a number of original plates with hand painted elements which authentically match the originals.
