Cecil Cutler (act.1886-1934) - Signed 1912 Gouache, Portrait of a Gentleman
DescriptionA very fine portrait in gouache with body color by the well-listed artist Cecil E.L. Cutler (act.1886-1934), depicting a handsomely dressed Edwardian gentleman, possibly a politician of the day. Cutler is known for his gouache portraits, and here he captures the distinctive facial features and character of the sitter in a charming manner. The portrait portrays a light sense of earnestness, with the gentleman looking beyond the viewer, in a moment of thought. The crisp white shirt and formal tie pin is typical for a figure of significant social standing in the period. On wove laid to board. Signed and dated.
In very good condition overall. Some light surface marks to the border and paper around the portrait. Very light discolouration.
