DescriptionA delicate and charming watercolour by the listed artist George Oyston (1861-1937), depicting grazing sheep in the English countryside. Signature and date in the lower right hand corner. Expertly presented in a card mount and a well kept oak frame, as shown. Signed and dated. On watercolour paper.
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and very minor foxing. The frame contains some very minor scuffed edges.

A North Shields painter of landscapes in both oil and watercolour. After practising in Newcastle where he regularly exhibited at the Bewick Club during the 1880's and 1890's he moved to the Thames Valley residing at Shepperton. He is recorded as having exhibited at the RBA and RI and he died at Amesbury, Wiltshire. He should not be confused with George Deane Oyston they are different artists.
