DescriptionA fine study of Conwy Castle in North Wales by the British artist Alfred Burgess Sharrocks (1919-1988). Completed in light watercolour with pen and ink detail. Very well presented in a double card mount and modern frame with gilt detail. Small biography attached to the reverse. Signed. On watercolour paper.
The condition is very good overall. With some very minor discolouration.

Alfred Brugess Sharrocks was born in 1919 and studied at Stockport School of Art and at the Royal Academy Schools. He exhibited regularly at the Royal Cambrian Academy and painted a great many landscapes of the Welsh hillsides.
Sharrocks is probably best known for his book covers and illustrations for the Secret Seven series by Enid Blyton. He also illustrated educational books about the natural world, especially in annuals.Died in Bangor, North Wales. Sharrocks became an associate member of the RCA in 1952 and full member in 1953. He became president of the RCA in 1962. The National Library of Wales has a landscape by Sharrocks in their collection.
