Viktor de Ruyter (b.1870) - Framed 1908 Oil, Countryside Brook
A fine original work by the German born artist Viktor de Ruyter (b.1870), depicting a rural countryside brook, with hay stooks in the distance. Ruyter has instilled a particular sense of both harmony and movement in this view, with an unusual perspective, possibly from a small footbridge. The trees balance the composition, contrasting with the verdant green banks. A fine handling of reflection in the medium completes this fine 1908 work.
Well-presented in a gilt wooden frame with inner grey painted detail, as shown.Signed and dated. On board.
In very good condition overall, for a picture of this age. Inspection under UV light reveals several areas of surface restoration. Some light surface discolouration, and abrasion near the edges. The frame has some light wear and surface marks.
