Thomas Miles Richardson Jnr. RWS (1813-1890) - 1841 Watercolour, Italian Lake
DescriptionA charming study of an Italian lake scene by the British artist Thomas Miles Richardson Jnr. (1813-1890). The artist has depicted an idyllic lake with distant town and figures. Fishing boats can be seen out on the lake while women converse in the foreground. This delightful scene is a typical subject for Thomas Miles Richardson Junior, who favoured compositions depicting the Swiss and Italian Alps. Richardson was fond of bright colours and used a quantity of white heightening, which can be seen in this particular study. Painted on watercolour paper and laid to card. Signed and dated.
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some minor discolouration and minor foxing. Small closed tear to the lower right corner that partially runs through the signature. With minor surface marks and abrasions.
