Ron Whittenbury (fl.1920-1955) - Signed & Framed 1977 Oil, Cornfield
DescriptionA fine impressionist landscape by the British artist Ron Whittenbury. Although Whittenbury was known to be most active between 1920-1955, this landscape is a fine example of his later work. Here the artist has wonderfully depicted an expansive cornfield in vibrant summer sunshine, with expressive brushwork that creates a sense of movement and depth within the golden crop. The crystal blue sky contrasts with the deep yellow ground to create a striking composition. Well presented in a distressed wooden frame with gilt detail. Signed and dated. On board.
Overall the condition is good. There are minor surface marks and abrasions to the substrate. With some minor surface dirt. Inspection under UV light reveals no sign of restoration. Marks and scuffing to the frame.
