Oliver Hall RA (1869-1957) - Early 20th Century Oil, A Dorset Mill

A fine example of an architectural study within the natural landscape by the artist Oliver Hall RA RE RWS (1869-1957), entitled 'A Dorset Mill'. Hall has used his typical autumnal palette in this charming work. A figure can be seen resting on a small wooden footbridge, while faded sunlight casts shadows on the mill. Well-presented in a painted wood and composition frame with textured mouldings, likely to be the original frame. With the artist's handwritten label to the reverse reading 'A Dorset Mill by Oliver Hall R.A.'. Signed and incsribed on the reverse. On canvas on stretchers.

In very good condition overall, for a picture of this age. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration to the artwork. There is a small area of restoration to the frame at the lower right corner. Minor wear and some stable cracking to the frame.

54.5 x 69.5cm (21.5" x 27.4")
Framed Size: 71 x 86.3cm (28" x 34")
