A finely detailed colourful watercolour with pen and ink details, depicting the harbour at Conwy, North Wales, by the listed artist Alfred Burgess Sharrocks PRCamA (1919-1988). Well-presented in a wooden frame with gilt detail. Inscribed on the reverse.On watercolour paper.


In good condition overall. Some light discolouration and spot stains to the upper edge. The frame is in good condition.

Artist Biography

Alfred Brugess Sharrocks was born in 1919 and studied at Stockport School of Art and at the Royal Academy Schools. He exhibited regularly at the Royal Cambrian Academy and painted a great many landscapes of the Welsh hillsides.

Sharrocks is probably best known for his book covers and illustrations for the Secret Seven series by Enid Blyton. He also illustrated educational books about the natural world, especially in annuals.Died in Bangor, North Wales. Sharrocks became an associate member of the RCA in 1952 and full member in 1953. He became president of the RCA in 1962. The National Library of Wales has a landscape by Sharrocks in their collection.
