DescriptionA delightful English watercolour by artist George Parsons Norman (1840-1914). Here he has depicted a tranquil late summer evening. Two young girls can be seen at the bank of the river, as the sun sets behind the large church. With body colour. Well presented in a white card mount and modern frame. Signed. On watercolour paper.
Overall the condition is very good. With some minor discolouration. Small marks to the frame.

George Parson Norman was born at Newington, Surrey in 1840, the eldest child of George Parson Norman Snr. George married at Hackney in 1865 to Eleanor Clark, soon after the marriage they moved to Lowestoft, Suffolk. Parson Norman was a successful watercolourist and member of Ipswich Fine Art Club from 1874 to 1914. He exhibited from his studio at Old Bank House, and regularly exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer shows. In later life Parsons Norman moved to Norwich and afterwards to Great Yarmouth, Norfolk. He exhibited at Birmingham Royal Society of Artists, the Royal Academy and in 1877 at the Royal Society of British Artists.
