Marie-Therese Ralli was born in Belgium and studied at the Academie Royale des Beaux Arts. She continued her training with the artist Henri Logelain, specialising in painting. Moving first to London, then to Bristol, Rali became an active member of the Clifton Arts Club, the Bath Society of Artists and an Associate Member of the West of England Academy, with whom she exhibited regularly. While in Bristol Marie-Therese Ralli focused on the design based themes within her work, studying enamelling under artist Elizabeth Turrell in order to further her craft. Moving to Chiswick in the early 1980s Ralli became a member of the Barnes and Mortlake Art Society.
