J. Savage - Signed & Framed 1987 Oil, Where Do We Begin
DescriptionA striking contemporary oil painting showing a pair of figures in vibrant tones by artist J. Savage. The cubist style and bold colour palette are reminicient of the work of Spanish painter Juan Gris, whom the artist has paid homage to on the Mall Galleries exhibition label to the reverse. Gris' innovative and experimental paintings positioned him as a pivotal figure within the Cubist movement. Gris' evocative and modern style has been refigured by Savage in their own encounter with cubism. Bearing partially intact inscribed Mall Gallery exhibition labels on the reverse. Well presented in a card mount and wood frame. Signed and dated. On wove.
There is an area of discolouration to the lower right edge mount, as shown. With a number of surface marks to the frame. Otherwise the artwork is in fine condition.
