Moss Brothers Illustrations - Mid 20th Century India Ink, Style and Horsemanship
DescriptionA set of ten original mid 20th Century illustrations for the menswear brand, Moss Bros booklet entitled 'Notebook on Applied Fox-Hunting'. All ten studies appear similar in size with a paper overlay fixed to the upper edge. A number of designs have been signed 'Douglas', titled and inscribed with comic phrases in a striking, graphic typography. These amusing illustrations were probably produced to accompany customer purchases as a creative marketing material, although it is unclear whether the booklets were ever published and distributed. The illustrations have been additionally inscribed on the reverse 'Client:-Moss Bros' titled 'Notebook on Applied Fox Hunting' and given reference numbers. On wove.
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is surface dirt, scuffing to the edges and foxing spots across all ten pages, as shown.
