A finely painted landscape work by the listed British artist Robert Flavell Micklewright RWS RE (1923-2013). A bucolic view of a cottage has been framed by livestock and foliage. The artist has a clear high level of proficiency in the medium, producing a fine balanced composition in the realist style. Romney Marsh is a sparsely populated wetland area in Kent and East Sussex.
Well-presented in a double card mount and rounded gilt wooden frame, as shown. There is a label to the reverse from Bankside Gallery, London.Signed and incsribed on the reverse. On wove.
In very good condition overall. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration. Minor surface marks to the frame.

Robert Flavell Micklewright RWS RE (1923-2013) was born in Staffordshire. He studied at Croydon School of Art (1939), Wimbledon School of Art (1947-9) and the Slade (1949-52). He served with the army in North Africa and Italy. Micklewright was a prolific illustrator for the Radio Times and other publications,. He designed stamp books for the Royal Mail, paintings for Shell and Gulf Oil. He is a member of the RWS and has exhibited at the Royal Academy. He also practised as a freelance painter, designer and illustrator.
