Fine Early 20th Century Oil - Tea in the Garden
A delightfully fine early 20th Century garden scene, depicting three ladies taking tea outside. The artist has composed the scene in the impressionist manner, reminiscent of the famous garden party works by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. The ladies perch on garden chairs, while one rests against a tree, drinking tea from a small table.
Subtle dappled sunlight from the tree canopy above aids the picturesque, calm qualities of the setting, and the overall composition has a distinct and purposeful elegance. On canvas laid to board.Unsigned.
In very good condition overall, for a picture of this age. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration. There is a minor surface mark to the lower left corner.
