A fine and carefully detailed architectural scene by the artist George B. Hodgson (1847-1921), entitled 'At Ludlow'. Figures are depicted, in a sunlit street in the market town of Ludlow, Shropshire, England. Signed and inscribed.


In very good condition overall. Some minor scuffing to the corners. There is some even surface discolouration, expected for a picture of this age.

Artist Biography

Painter of landscapes, allegorical scenes, mainly in watercolour, who lived in Grange-over-Sands Lancashire, but was a Nottingham born painter. He was a member of the Nottingham Society of Artists and acted as Vice-President, 1908-17 and exhibited many works at the Nottingham Castle Museum. Hodgson also showed at the Royal Academy, Royal Birmingham Society of Artists and Royal Society of British Artists.
