A delightful watercolour landscape that captures a tranquil lake scene with distant mountains. Signed Edward Arden, the pseudonym of Edward Tucker Jnr. Well presented in a gilt frame and fine gilt frame. Signed. On watercolour paper.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and foxing. Minor marks to the frame, with some small losses that have been overpainted with gilt paint.

Artist Biography

Painter born in Gravesend, Kent, the eldest son of artist Edward Tucker and a brother to artists Arthur Tucker, Frederick Tucker and Hubert Coutts. Taught by his father he worked in his own name and also under the pseudonym of ‘Edward Arden’ to avoid confusion with his father. A founder member of the Lake Artists Society, he exhibited at the RA, RBA, RHA, RI and RSA. Examples of his work are in the Royal Albert Memorial Museum, Exeter.
