After James Stewart - Set of Six 19th Century Engraving, Animal Illustrations
DescriptionA fine and well presented set of mid to late 19th Century engravings with hand colouring, by the natural history artist James Stewart. Each print represents several variations on a species, including hippopotamuses, squirrels, lions, wolves and birds. Well-presented in uniform dark green card mounts and thin gilt wooden frames, as shown. Unsigned and inscribed. On wove.
All are in very good condition overall, for prints of this age. There is some discolouration to the surface, and occasional minor foxing spots. The frames have some light scuffing at the corners.
