A crisp etching by the artist Charles Frederick Allbon ARE (1856-1926), depicting a view of Antwerp, Belgium. Inscribed 'Antwerp' and dated 1890 in plate. Signed in graphite to the lower left corner. Published 'by Gladwell & Company, Five Fenchurch Street, London, E.C.'. Signed and dated and inscribed. On wove.


In good condition for a picture of this age. There is some surface discolouration, and light foxing to the lower border edge. There is a small hole close the the lower edge, and tape adhesive residue along the upper edge. Light mount burn.

Artist Biography

Charles Frederick Allbon ARE (1856-1926) was a painter and etcher of landscapes and seascapes. He studied at the Croydon School of Art and exhibited at the RA and RE, of which he was elected an Associate to the latter in 1887. He was also a member of the Langham Sketching Club.
