A fine bright coastal landscape in watercolour with gouache details, by the artist Louis Mortimer (fl.1900-1930). Entitled 'Kynance Cove, Cornwall', the artist has depicted the rugged headland and sandy coves of the Lizard Peninsula. On canvas paper. Well-presented within a titled double washline mount and ornate gilt effect frame, as shown. Signed and inscribed.


In very good condition overall. There are some light foxing spots to the upper edge, and some mount burn. The frame is in very good condition, with light scuffing and a tiny moulding loss to the lower right corner.

Artist Biography

Louis Mortimer (fl.1900-1930), also known as Lewis Mortimer, was a painter and illustrator. He painted pictures along the south coast from Dorset to Cornwall. Although his work appears regularly at auction little is known of his career as an exhibiting artist.
