A delicate early 20th century watercolour of Kynance Cove in Cornwall. Wonderfully presented in a double card mount with washline detail. With gilt frame. Signed. On wove.


The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and foxing. With very minor marks to the frame.

Artist Biography

Painter and illustrator of landscapes and figures in watercolours and oils. He was born and worked in Birmingham early in his career before moving to the West Country. He showed with the RBSA and was a member from 1884 and also showed at the RBA, becoming a member of that society in 1921. Richards also exhibited at the RA, ROI and the Dowdeswells Gallery as well as in the provinces. He lived for five years at Newlyn and also in Hampshire, but many of his works depict the East Coast around Lowestoft. His painting ranges from detailed figure studies in watercolours to more simplified oil paintings.
