Description

A finely drawn early 20th century pen drawing with watercolour wash. Depicting the French town of Hesdin. A Casualty Clearing Station was placed near the town in April 1917 to August, 1918. Painted on wove laid to thick card. Signed and dated.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and minor foxing. Small 1 cm tear to upper edge.

Artist Biography

Illustrator born in Wood Green, London whose work was reproduced as postcards. These included during World War I, wounded soldiers and nurses and some glamour cards often in an art-deco style.
