Early 20th Century Stipple Engraving - Kora of Sicyon
DescriptionA fine classical stipple engraving, depicting Kora of Sicyon with her lover, drawing his shadow outline on a wall for her father to later produce in clay. This myth is stated as the origin of the first relief sculpture. Well-presented in a washline mount with gilt detail, as shown. Unsigned. On wove.
In very good condition overall. There is a surface impact mark near the centre, although this is not visually distracting.
