T. Wilson - A Pair of Early 20th Century Watercolours, Loch Lomond and a Lake
A very fine pair of early 20th Century watercolour lake landscapes by the artist T. Wilson, one entitled 'Lake Leo', and the other 'Loch Lomond' in Southern Scotland. The artist has a clear proficiency in the medium, with the choice of a delicate palette adding a sense of the ethereal elements of the natural landscape. Loch Lomond is presented with the shore in the foreground, and figures give scale to both works. Dusk is the prevailing mood, and this very fine pair are both engaging, while complementing each other.
Both are handsomely presented in wide gilt mounts, with early 20th Century gilt wooden swept frames. Shells and floral motifs embellish the centre and corner ornamentation. Both have a label to the reverse from 'J. Davey & Sons, Picture Framing and Gilding', dated 1926.Signed and incsribed on the reverse. On watercolour paper.
Both works are in very good condition for their age. There is only some minor surface discolouration. The frames have some very small chips to the corners, but overall are very good.
