The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration, surface residue from a previous mount and some minor surface dirt.

Richard Malcolm Lloyd was a painter of marinescapes and coastal images born in London. Previously called Robert Malcolm Lloyd it has recently been discovered that his birth name was actually Richard Malcolm Lloyd. He is believed to have spent time in Newlyn, Cornwall where he shared lodgings with painter Edwin Harris circa 1881. Malcolm Lloyd as he is commonly known exhibited at the GI, RA, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, RBA, RI and ROI. An example of his work is in the collection of the Penlee House Museum. Previous records record his death in 1899. However, internet records of deaths in the UK show in fact he died many years later in 1945 aged 89 years.
