DescriptionA very fine and evocative landscape in oil, by the artist Jack R. Mould, depicting Lairig Ghru, one of the best known mountain passes in the Cairngorms National Park, Scotland. Mould is known for other works depicting the Scottish Highlands, and here, he captures the scene well, with a sense of stillness and calm. Well-presented in a swept gilt wooden frame with ornate mouldings, as shown. Signed to the lower left, and inscribed 'Lairig Ghru' to the reverse. Signed and incsribed on the reverse. On board.
In good condition overall. There are several vertical cracks to the work, the largest being about 8cm , however these are stable and there is no paint loss.

Jack R. Mould (1925-1998) was born in London. He moved to Cornwall when he was 16 years old where he spent most of his time painting. He also made many visits to Scotland where he painted the magnificent scenery he observed. His very distinctive style brought him considerable commercial success and critical acclaim.
