Frank Hider (1861-1933) - Framed Early 20th Century Oil, Near Land's End
DescriptionA fine late 19th or early 20th Century oil by the prolific artist Frank Hinder. Characteristic of his style and subject matter. With areas of impasto to create texture and movement within the rough seas. Well presented in a modern gilt effect frame. Signed indistinctly, On canvas on stretchers.
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and surface dirt. Most noticeable to the sky area. Inspection under UV light reveals a small area of restoration, to the centre of the canvas. This small area of over painting is very minimal and mostly noticeable under UV light.
