DescriptionA gouache and watercolour Cardiff street scene with figures and cars. Signed and dated to the lower right. The painting has been cropped and laid down to a white backing board. Presented in a simple brown frame. Title and medium inscribed on a label affixed to the reverse. Signed and dated. On wove.
There is very light scattered foxing, otherwise in good condition. Frame is also in good condition.

Painter and collagist born in Swansea. After service in World War II he briefly attended art classes in Florence before spending time at Swansea School of Art, 1946-51 briefly teaching after completion of his course. He worked in the glass studio of Whitefriars designing before turning to teaching. Williams exhibited at the Howard Roberts gallery, Cardiff and in a variety of Welsh based group exhibitions. Three years after his demise the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery held a retrospective exhibition and they and the National Library of Wales hold examples of his topographical detailed oil paintings.
