W. Stannaway - 1973 Oil, Castle Coombe, Wiltshire

A very fine and carefully composed oil on board by the artist W. Stannaway, depicting Castle Coombe, a village in Wiltshire, England. The artist has chosen to depict the bridge over the river, with St Andrews Church in the background. Castle Coombe has been previously called 'the prettiest village in England', and this is enhanced by the artist's fine brushwork and textures. Signed to the lower left and dated 1973. Signed and dated. On board.

There is some discolouration and markings across the surface, and mount burn to the edges. There is also some minor paint loss due to contact with a previous frame, as shown. Scuffing to the corners.

33.7 x 49.6cm (13.3" x 19.5")
Sheet: 36.8 x 52.4cm (14.5" x 20.6")
