There are some surface marks and minor losses to the paint to the sky area, as shown. With surface dirt and scuffing to the edges of the board.

Hugh Church was a London artist born in Haggerston in 1865. He attended St. Saviour's School, Ardingly Sussex. Church married a Jane Helene Wilson in 1892 but she died some time prior to 1901 when he was living at 75 Albert Mansions, South Lambeth and is described as a painter and sculptor. They had a daughter Annie Helene Church born about 1893.
