Description

A delightful winter landscape with a snow-laden church and a dramatic tall tree, by the artist C.H. Bagnoli. The artist has a clear proficiency in the medium, with the green and pink hues adding warmth and seasonal light to the composition. Displayed in a material slip and presented in a well kept wooden frame with gilt effect detailing, as shown. Signed and dated in the lower left hand corner, with an inscribed label on reverse. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

In fine condition. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration.

Artist Biography

C.H. Bagnoli trained at the Maidenhead College of Arts and Harrow Technical in 1945, and at the Byam Shaw and Royal Academy Schools in the period 1946-50. Exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1947, she has had several solo shows including in 1984 at Runneymede Arts at Binfield, the Medici Gallery London and Halcyon Gallery, Birmingham, as well as at the V & A Traynor, Binfield in 1991 and Galleria Comunale, Lucca, Italy, in 1993.

Examples of her work can be found in the Birmingham Art Gallery and in private collections in Canada, the USA, France, Italy, Australia and Japan.
