Description

Beautifully presented in a large decorative gold painted frame. Signed and dated. On board.

Condition

Generally the appearance is excellent. Inspection under UV light shows no signs of restoration. There are some tiny scattered surface scuffs visible under close inspection. There is a small abrasion to the upper right hand edge of the board. There are two vertical, shallow surface scratched under the sitter's face, but these are filled with paint and not immediately obvious.

Artist Biography

Bruno Venier was born in Venice in 1913. The artist used a Cubist style in many of his portraits and still lifes, and the large scale is also typical of Venier's most popular works. The artist has a large following in South America and his work is held by prominent London galleries, such as the Catherine Miller Gallery.
