This week we are pleased to present a collection of original watercolours and acrylic studies by British artist Hilary Sweet-Escott. We also bring you a series of 20th century oils by Louis Klein, along with a selection of contemporary oil paintings by Ben Carrivick.
20th Century artist Hilary Sweet-Escott works in a variety of different mediums including acrylic, graphite, pastel and watercolour. Sweet-Escott experiments with a bold colour palette to beautifully capture specific moments from everyday life. Her subjects range from panoramic coastal and landscape scenes to detailed floral studies, some of which have been signed and inscribed by the artist.
Sulis Fine Art presents this expansive collection of oil paintings from a studio collection by the artist. Although we have limited biographical information, Klein creates modern portraits with expressive features, beautifully capturing the sitters individuality. His skilled approach to perspective is evident, as well as his balance between realism and impressionistic features.
Ben Carrivick is a contemporary British artist born in Birmingham. His work is largely figurative and experiments with normative conventions of beauty. His refreshingly modern style takes inspiration from modern figurative painters such as Egon Schiele. This interesting abstracted portrait has subtle impasto and muted tones, heightening the complex textures within the composition and gives the artwork an organic quality.
