Artist Biography

Bernard Phillip Batchelor was a painter, born at Teddington, Middlesex. He studied at St. Martin's School of Art from 1946 to 1949 under R. Kirkland Jamieson and Andrew Freeth. Batchelor then went on to the City and Guilds of London Art School. After finishing his education Batchelor worked in the publicity department of Iliffe Press.

Batchelor was ell known for his watercolour marine and coastal subjects. He has exhibited at RA, RWS, RE, NEAC and Catto Gallery, London. Batchelor was elected an Associate of the RWS in 1967 and a full member ten years later. Examples of his work are in the GAC.
