Axel Herman Haig - Original 1884 Etching. Signed in pencil lower right and monogramed and dated in plate lower left. Wove paper laid on linen. Robert Dunthorne blind stamp. Signed and dated. On wove. Condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and foxing.

Axel Herman Haig (1835 - 1921) was a Swedish born artist and illustrator. He apprenticed as a shipbuilder before becoming interested in architecture and building a career in this field. He developed a second career as an etcher and his drawings and lithographs of European castles, palaces, landscapes and cathedrals became hugely popular in late Victorian England.
